I just found out I'm fat!!! I started the Couch To 5K program today ... I'm on Week 1, Day 1, and I could NOT do the running part of the very first workout!!! Okay, so what. So I'm fat!! I'm not going to let THAT get in my way!! I thought I would be running a 5K nine weeks from now, but screw it! I will WALK a 5K! Nine weeks brings me to July 1st.
So... Goals:
1. Walk a 5K in 60 minutes or less!
2. Drop 20 pounds in the process!
Think I can do it???
Sure you can do it! Just so you know, you don't have to run your entire workout. In fact in the beginning you just need to run 30secs, then walk 1.5-2min's. Just keep repeating that or times similar for 20 min's. If you are into it mentally, running will come easier because you will WANT to do it more.

Never consider yourself fat. It's just another state of insanity. Besides you're in good company as I am out of shape too. It's just the way it is and better days are coming.

Thanks for the votes of confidence!! So thoughtful!! I will definitely stick to the walk / walk faster model instead of walk / run ... otherwise I will lose steam too quick! Hope I can stay motivated! :)

Fat is a state of mind, not a state of body.
Remember what you put into the body is what powers the body, getting rid of the extra energy stores will burn some very untasty reserves. The reserves are a loose form of glycogen waiting to be burned.
What's sitting in your tummy isn't what you burn at the muscles. If you starve the body thinks there is no food to be had and won't burn it's reserves, so don't starve.
Your body needs to sense a pickup in activity level, then you can cut back on foods. then the body thinks your truly needing the reserves.
Start the exercise, then start the diet, not the other way round.
There are a lots of things that go into removing energy stores. But you can't get to the reserves unless the body thinks there is nowhere else to go.
Start the exercise, then start the diet, but do not use a starvation diet. It's unhealthy for your brain and body in the short run.

Thanks Jhery!! Great advice, and educational!! Right now for diet I'm just cutting out juices and sodas. Nothing too drastic. But I have to say, I don't know if it's psychological or what, but even though it's only been 5 days, I'm already feeling happier, if that makes any sense! I just FEEL better!! Enjoy your day :)
